From a National perspective, Mr. Alters is a member of the American Association
for Justice (AAJ), where he has been elected as one of, if not the, youngest
members ever to the organization’s highest governing body, the Executive
Committee. He has also been appointed to itsNational Finance Committee
and Membership Committee. In 2004, Mr.Alters was honored by AAJ with the
F. Scott Baldwin Award, given to the most outstanding young trial lawyer
in the United States. He is a three time recipient of the prestigious
Wiedman/Wisocki medal of honor, for service and dedication in preserving
the civil justice system. Mr.Alters is a platinum member of AAJ’s
Leaders Forum. Additionally, he is a member and Fellow of the American
Bar Association and a member of the Spellman-Hoeveler American Inn of Court.
In Florida, Mr. Alters is an Eagle Member of the Florida Justice Association
where he serves on the Miami-Dade County Legislative Task Force. He is
also a member of the Miami-Dade County Bar Association. Mr.Alters served
on the Board of the Miami-Dade Justice Association as the Secretary 2001-2002,
Treasurer 2002-2003, President-Elect 2003-2004 and as the organization’s
President 2004-2005. In addition, he has been recognized on various occasions
by United Who’s Who, Florida Trend Magazine and Super Lawyers.
In his career, he has resolved cases totaling well over 1 billion dollars.
Mr. Alters has achieved dozens of multi-million dollar settlements and
verdicts including many note worthy eight figure settlements. All of his
significant settlements and verdicts have been covered by the local, national,
and international media. As a trial lawyer, Mr. Alters has successfully
tried to verdict more than 35 civil jury trials in the areas of medical
malpractice, products liability, wrongful death, tractor-trailer accidents
and tragic personal injury cases. Mr. Alters is known to bean effective
and passionate advocate for his clients, making their interests and pursuit
of justice the singular focus of each case. When a trial lawyer is needed

Politically, Mr. Alters has been heavily involved in Democratic fundraising
and donating over the last decade. He served on John Kerry’s National
Finance Committee for his 2004 Presidential run, and was one of President
Barack Obama’s initial National Finance Committee members. Mr Alters
has actively been involved in raising money for the Democratic Congressional
Campaign Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Mr.Alters was a founding shareholder in his prior firm, Ratzan &Alters,
P.A. in 2001. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 15,1971. He
received his B.A. in 1994 from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst
and his J.D. in 1996 from the University of Miami School of Law. Mr. Alters
was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1997. Mr. Alters has3 children, Logan,
Dawson and Cameron. His extracurricular activities include surfing, training
for and racing in triathlons, snowboarding,coaching his childrens’
sports teams and being with his family.
